  4. David:

Forgive me if I have posted in the wrong area of your website, but this is my first post (beginner).

I had a wonderful weekend at Camp Morrow, and especially enjoyed your sharing with us about “Acting Like Men.”

I believe that the greatest need that Christian men today have is to experience victory over the fallen nature (flesh/self), yet there is little or no teaching in the churches that I have attended. Our teachers tell us how to act like Christians, but I have yet to have one show me how to become one (walk with God). I am not talking about leading me in a sinners prayer, but being a mentor to me, showing and teaching me what it is to walk in the Spirit, that I might not obey the lusts and desires of the flesh (Gal 5:16) and that I might fully meet all of the righteous requirements of the Law (Rom 8:4), as I make the transition from the Law of sin and death, to the Law of the Spirit of life.

The emphesis of church teaching seems to be more on what we do to become more like Christ, than what God, by His Spirit accomplishes in our hearts. This teaching is focused on me acting like a Christian, rather than exchanging my fallen nature for God’s nature, and becoming a new creation in Christ.

Is this not what the new covenant is all about?

The old covenant is what men without the Spirit did in an attempt to be righteous.

The new covenant is what God, by His indwelling Spirit accomplishes in the lives of born-again believers, with our encouragement, but apart from our efforts as we exhibit the righteousness of the indwelling Christ in our lives.

Is this not the Biblical World View?

  5. Thank you for an awesome God-centered and Christ glorifying blog. I am grateful to follower May Christ keep burning in each word, sentence and post.

    In Christ,

  6. Just read the book review on Rob Bell’s new book. So helpful. I know the theology is “off” but it is so subtle because he uses familiar Christian terminology though slanted the wrong way. I’m an MU seminary student trying to get a better grasp of theology. Thank you, Dr. Steele.

  7. Dr. Steele, I signed up for your blog and mistakenly gave you an incorrect email address. Please delete the Chaplain333 one. That is a mistake. I have signed up with my correct email address.
